Heartland Harvest Confections
The challenge: The client needed a fast theme for a WordPress/Woocommerce website. The client supplied the approved concept-images for the design.
The solution: I coded a lean theme that kept plugins to a bare minimum that exceeded the client’s expectations.
- Custom WordPress Theme, based on the starter theme, underscores
- Hand-coded semantic PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Exceeds WCAG 2.0
- Visit the website
This was a contract project for Triple R Marketing.
AudioVisual Metadata Platform

The solution: I quickly developed a working HTML prototype based on the graphics using bootstrap and jquery.

Rights Management Database
The challenge: Indiana University Libraries owns millions of items. They needed a system to approve these items for sharing and to avoid any copyright issues.
The solution: Working with a librarian, copyright lawyer, and a dev team we created an application for doing just that.
- Card sorting, wireframes, and A/B split testing
- Hand-coded semantic HTML, Rivet CSS and jQuery
- Visit the prototype
Gnarly Tree Sustainability Institute
The challenge: The client liked the look and feel of the existing website, but the WordPress theme was built using a lot of plugins, slowing it down, and making it nearly impossible to update without a technical background.
The solution: I designed and developed a new WordPress theme that significantly sped up the site and kept the plugins to the bare minimum (I hate the majority of plugins that I run into).
- Custom WordPress Theme, based on the starter theme underscores
- Hand-coded semantic HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Exceeds WCAG 2.0
- Visit the new website
This was a contract project for Triple R Marketing.
Indiana University Libraries Search Results
The challenge: The product owner wanted to simplify the search results page. The previous version used tabs and a 2 column layout, making it harder to navigate and clunky on mobile devices.
The solution: I ended up sketching up some variations, developed a quick working HTML prototype. The prototype isn’t much different from the live website.
- Hand-coded semantic HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Exceeds WCAG 2.0
- Visit the new search results page
